The Preparation | Christmas 2020

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas after October 31st. It's my favorite moment of the entire year. Every year I would start to prepare for the holiday around this time! Usually, I would begin to shop for my tree, looking around every single store, looking for ideas, and touching all the ornaments to feel the texture and materials. I took this holiday super seriously, and no one even can compete with me, lol.

Living in a country that doesn't celebrate Christmas as their main holiday, it's hard for me to collect or shop the ornaments/ decorations, especially the higher quality ornaments. I always get lots of questions from my friends or my Instagram followers about where to shop for excellent quality Christmas decorations in a culture that doesn't celebrate Christmas. Here are some of my favorite physical and online shops for you to get all of them! I and that type of person shop for some new ornaments every year, so I definitely can tell you the best and trendy style of the years!

Just to let you know, by good quality, I mean non-plastics ornaments, and it might be a bit pricey, but you would love how it looks on the trees and homes! Let's go!

Shops

H&M Home

Literally every year, I always started to shop from them first! Most of my favorite ornaments are from them. They still have the simplest, minimalist design and quality looks decorations, but the price was just not too crazy. Highly recommend you to shop here.

IKEA

Yes, I said IKEA. This year they finally have a nice collection of decorations. Most of the ornaments are made of glass. I love how this year not only IKEA but also most shops are starting to make some change. Plastic looks cheap and not environmentally friendly, glass might easily break, but it made the quality look! I'm thrilled that I finally can shop in IKEA this year.

Swarovski

I only shop one ornament here every year! The reason why are they have a collection only sell during the holiday season, which is their 'Swarovski Annual Edition Ornament." Every year they would have to design a new star for only the year. If you miss this year, it's impossible to find. I have already been collecting it since 2018, and can you imagine after ten or twenty years, your trees are hanging lots of beautiful Swarovski crystals?! Highly recommended you can start to collect as well.

Crate & Barrel

This company may be a little bit pricey, but you really can find something really different here. I like to look at their ornaments to get some inspiration even though I'm not buying anything. The quality here is good, just a bit pricey, but I think it's an excellent idea to add one or two high-quality ornaments every year.

Zara Home

I never shop here before, to be honest, not because of the quality but the destination for me. I like to go to their official website to get some ideas from them. They are a bit pricey as well, but I still can find something really different here. Hope one day I can go to their shop to see all the things in real life!

This Year

Every year I will choose a theme to decorate my tree. I have been using the natural theme for the past two years. This year I am choosing blue as my theme color of this year! We all know 2020 is the year of weird, and I never use blue before; I guess I would have a Frozen theme’s three this time, lol. Well, I was going to buy the Frozen snowflakes collection from Swarovski, but out of my budget, and I think the annual Christmas star collection is more worthy than that (but maybe I will buy the Frozen collection someday, who knows, haha!)

Here are some of my recent purchases for Christmas 2020!
